Eye and Vision Exams

Eye and Vision Exams from Our Trusted Los Angeles Optometrist

Eye and Vision Exam

Your eyes are supposed to last a lifetime -- but that depends on how well you take care of them. Regular eye and vision evaluations can help you stay on top of any issues that require treatment, from refractive errors to eye diseases. specialized eye exams can even help you get the ideal vision services for your needs, from progressive eyeglasses to specialty contact lenses. You can get these important exams from your trusted Los Angeles optometrist at Los Angeles Vision Center.

Why You Need Regular Eye Exams

No matter how clearly you and your loved ones are seeing, you need regular eye exams. Why is this routine step so critical? A lurking eye disease can do substantial harm, including irreversible vision loss before you're actually aware of the problem. the time to catch those problems is while they're just starting, not after it's too late to undo the damage. A comprehensive eye exam combines technologies such as slit lamp testing, retinal examination via pupil dilation, eye pressure testing, and other techniques to alert us to any problems that need immediate treatment.

Eye diseases aren't the only reason for regular eye exams. Your eye doctor at Los Angeles Vision Center can also evaluate how well your eyes are functioning, both independently and as a team. Vision testing can determine whether you suffer from a  refractive error that calls for corrective eyewear. If you prefer contact lenses to glasses, a separate contact lens exam gives us the extra information we need to prescribe the perfect products, from ordinary soft contacts to specialized contact lenses.

Pediatric, Adult, and Senior Eye Exams

Eye and vision exams differ somewhat from one age group to the next. we administer pediatric eye exams at 6 months, 3 years, and 5 to 6 years of age, with subsequent exams every two years (or every year if we're treating an eye/vision issue). The early exams emphasize screening for health problems and functional disorders that threaten normal visual development, with school-age exams emphasizing correction of refractive errors. Most adults need a combination of eye health, eye function, and vision tests every other year at a minimum. Seniors need these same tests on an annual basis, with an extra emphasis on catching and treating age-related eye problems.
